Save money on your excess baggage !

When you travel by plane, airlines normally carry approx. 20 kgs of your luggage as "checked baggage" free of charge.
For any additional luggage, travellers have to pay excess baggage charges, which are very expensive.

TFM has the solution to this problem: the "unaccompanied baggage" system. This system allows the passenger to bring extra luggage in unlimited quantities at much lower cost than the "excess baggage charges" levied by the airlines upon check-in.

"Unaccompanied baggage" travels by airfreight and enjoys a 50% discount on the regular airfreight rates, which as such are already far cheaper than the "excess baggage charges".

Your luggage will normally be sent to the international airport nearest to your destination address. However, we can also provide full door-to-door service to most major destinations worldwide on request.

Transport insurance is recommended and your baggage can be covered on request through TFM’s general marine insurance policy.

Save a large amount of money in 3 easy steps:

1. Prepare the following documents:

• A copy of your passport
• Air ticket if available
• Packing list (description of contents for customs and insurance purposes)
• Destination address and telephone number
• Security Declaration (PDF, 115 KB)

2. Delivery of your baggage

• Deliver your baggage to our warehouse at the Fracht West building at Zurich Airport.
• A phonecall prior to delivery will be appreciated (pick-up service available on request).

3. Payment

• Pay the "unaccompanied baggage" charges at our front desk on the first floor (Room 1-319)
• You will receive the Air Waybill which you will need to retrieve your shipment at the destination airport.

Remarks:

• Calculation of the "chargeable weight":
  the "chargeable weight" is either the "actual weight" or the "volumetric weight", whichever is higher.

• Delivery of your shipment at destination:
  For delivery of your shipment, please apply to the Airline mentioned on the Air Waybill. Please show the Air Waybill Number and your passport.
• Other charges:
  Our "all in" charge for export handling, customs clearance, documentation and administration is CHF 132.00 per shipment. This includes all local charges and will be added to the freight charges.
